The GMB North West & Irish Region was formed in January 2007 following a decision to reorganise boundaries of the former Liverpool, North Wales & Irish and Lancashire Regions and reduce the total number of GMB regions from ten to nine.The Region covers the North West of England including Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester together with Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. GMB is one of the largest unions in the UK with around 600,000 members and the North West & Irish Region services nearly 90,000 of this total membership.
