The GMB North West and Irish region are looking for young activists to take part in the TUC Into Schools Project.
The project is based on a panel of young trade unionists using materials that TUC have developed, going into schools and colleges to help run sessions alongside teachers with a range of activities and helping develop skills whilst introducing young people to the values and realities of modern trade unionism.
Volunteers with the support of their branch would need to commit for a fixed number of visits per term. The TUC would then be able to identify the schools in advance and notify the partner union of the details of the visits and they would then arrange for their activist to receive the materials and make contact with the schools.
Volunteers would need to attend a training session on Friday 5 February 2010 from 9.30 - 16.00 at Manchester Trade Union Education, St John's Centre, New Quay Street, Manchester.
