GMB North West & Irish Learning Forum

GMB North West & Irish Learning Forum

Fri 5th Oct 2012

Another great forum took place on the 4th October 2012 at the Solaris Centre in Blackpool.

The event was attended by representatives from a range of sectors and from across the region. Among those present were ULRs, Shop Stewards, Learning Providers, as well as colleagues from Unionlearn and the TUC.

During the morning we looked at the learning offer available through GMB Reach Out, activity and campaigns at the 5 learning hubs, Apprenticeships, funding and eligibility.

As part of the workshop sessions delegates had the opportunity to share experiences and reflect on recent  developments around adult learning.  These contributions were extremely useful in identifying current challenges and ways in which these might be addressed.

The feedback received regarding the event was positive with a number of people commenting on the networking aspect being a very important part of the day.  There were also some remarks about the possibility of the next forum being longer.

Our thanks go to all those who presented on the day in particular to Graham Randle from the TUC and to Blackpool & Fylde College who gave a brief outline as to what they could offer.

Thank you also to all those that attended the event and made it such a sucess.
