Tameside employees were treated to the chance to become budding authors at a recent Creative Writing training course, courtesy of Union Learn, who provided funding for the two training sessions on the 13th and 20th October.

The course was tutored by the talented professional writer, Kavy Asiddhi, who's inspirational methods of teaching proved a hit with the delegates, and was held at Bayley Hall in Hyde Park, a venue staffed and supervised by both services users and staff from learning disabilities.

During the sessions delegates learnt to create interesting and entertaining articles and stories about anything ranging from their seemingly uneventful journeys to work, to defending themselves in a police station!

A course delegate said "this course was so interesting and has inspired me to have a go at more creative writing.  Kavy had a way of inspiring and stretching your imagination and realising the interesting, funny and sometimes moving aspects of events and objects, which may, at first glance, seem dull or irrelevant.  I would definitely recommend this course and think it's fantastic that the Unions are offering such exciting learning opportunities".
